ok I have a pair of size 9 valo tv.1 boots and i decided to make them soft boot.
Cutting the boots-
Firt I started by cutting the toe cap off of the skate starting near the first lace hole. After I got the toe cap off I then took my jig saw and cut the bottom toe area off untill it was flush with the bottom of the shell. If you are trying to fit into a 9 shell I would reccomend cutting flat to the base of the boot because it feels more natural this way and allows your toes the most room possible with in the boot.

Performance/ flex-
After I got them together I went out and skated my shitter rail... The first thing I noticed was my feet were not dead from the tiny shells and I actually fit the boots really nice. I also noticed more flex in the boot and there were no pressure points in the sides of my foot like before around the lacing area of the shell. Any trick from a farv or topside was alot more comfortable and natural feeling with the added flex. With the new cut I could balance better and switch-ups seemed to be alot better and more stable while changing my foot placement.
Toe protection-
your toes will be fine durring normal skating and tricks...The only thing I could see that would hurt is if you smash the shit out of the top of your foot but I think that would hurt with or without the softboot style on your valo's. The soul plate protects the front of your toes and with the liner and skin you have enough padding to protect the tops of your toes from light impact or missing a trick or something. However you toes will get rocked if you somehow really smash the top of them..I would compare this equally to xsjado skates so dont be too worried.
(the jj model skates should offer better toe protection from the rubber toe and I just ordered some so when I get them I will compare the 2)
More ideas(heel area)-
From time to time my heel gets a little sore since the boot is so compact in the rear section of the shell so I have been thinking of cutting out the heel of the boot as well. In theory this would allow the liner to have some breathing room in the heel of the shell and would take the pressure off of my foot when landing bigger tricks. I might do this to a pair of shells if I can find some for cheap because I dont want to wreck my shells if it ends up sucking...lol
Overall-
This has worked out great and I would reccomend this to anyone who hates the larger shell and likes a little more flex and freedom in a hard boot without having a complete soft boot skate.

I just got these from somebody so they are new to me but have been used...They are in perfect condition and with these mods they skate really well.
